About This Story
His whole family had it. His father stood up a beat before the phone rang, every time. His grandmother called it good instincts, nerves, money in the blood, and she told him he had it too, the way you hand a child a gift you're proud to pass down.
He's spent his whole life calling it nerves.
Now he's raising his six-year-old daughter alone in a quiet house, and his body still does the thing it's always done. His hand is under the glass before it tips.
